One teen killed, three others injured in Shelby County accident - Herald-Whig
Sep 26, 2016Updated: Sep. 26, 2016 9:54 amSHELBYVILLE, Mo. -- A 15-year-old Shelbyville, Mo., boy was killed, and three other Shelbyville teens, ages 14, 16 and 17, are in serious condition after a crash Saturday night.The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Nicholas Von Thun, 17, was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile 88 at 9:30 p.m. when he ran off the north side of Mo. 168 about 41/2 miles east of Shelbyville and overcorrected. The vehicle overturned numerous times before coming to rest in a field. None of the occupants were wearing a seat belt, and all were ejected.Joshua Kennison, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene by Shelby County Coroner Ralph Eagan.Jakob R. Pratt and Trystin M. Pratt, ages 14 and 16, were flown to University Hospital in Columbia. Von Thun was taken by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.Greening Eagan Hayes Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements for Kennison.The Highway Patrol reports there have been 22 crash fatalities this year in the area covered by Troop B.The Shelby County Sheriff's Department, Shelbyville and Shelbina fire departments, Salt River Ambulance, and Survival Air and Air Evac helicopter services all assisted at the scene.
